This discovery by Jakob and Nils ignited the Ivalojoki gold rush, drawing fortune-seekers from all across Europe to these untamed wildlands, dreaming of riches buried beneath the river’s rippling surface.

Fast forward to today, and the golden dust as well as the frenzy have long since settled. 

The gold is still there, but the river’s greatest treasures have shifted. 

Now, instead of glimpses of gold, you may catch a silver-bellied river trout leaping into the air, breaking the surface.
